I miss ice!

"May I please have some ice?" If you ask this question in Germany, the answer will be "no." In America you can get ice anywhere and all of the time. But in Germany, ice is almost nowhere to be found. Today I went to the movies and my mom ordered a Diet Coke. Her drink was hot because it had no ice. Luckily, the popcorn was delicious. Too bad the movie was in German instead of English.

Tonight we finally had our first experience seeing ice. I was very excited!

Hi Kati, we had a full cooler of ice at Edisto Beach this weekend. Surf's up! Benjamin actually got up on Pressley's surf board.

About our College Class

Emory Farrand and Kati Tanner are spending two weeks traveling to Munich and Berlin, Germany as part of a college-level Maymester course at the University of South Carolina. Emory’s dad and Kati’s mom are the professors leading this trip, which also includes 18 USC students. The purpose of the course is to learn about journalism and develop stories and communication skills that extend beyond the classroom. During their trip, Kati and Emory, along with the other students, will interview, write, photograph and video Germans while learning about the German culture.
Kati, a 4th grader at Brennen Elementary in Columbia, S.C., and Emory, a 5th grader at H.E. Corley Elementary in Irmo, S.C., are excited about participating in a college course and “competing” against students twice their age.
Are USC college students “smarter than a 5th grader?”
